We all suffer from stress in our lives, in our workplace, at school, in relationships or at home. It is part of life and it can not be avoided sometimes. But it is important to learn to manage our stress so it doesn't affect our well being and mental health.
Here are some things you can do to lower your stress levels when they get too high.
Exercise - The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommend that kids between the ages 6 to 17 get at least 60 minutes of activity every day.
Keep a journal - Write out your feelings. Researchers have found a link between expressing yourself in writing and feeling less mental stress.
Less time on electronic devices - This one is hard for all of us but it really helps to go outside and spend time in nature, such as a walk in the park.
Do things you enjoy - Make time to have fun. Students are stressed in school and have heavy workloads however taking time out to do something you enjoy, can have a great impact on your mental health.
Don't keep it inside - It is good to talk. Reach out to your parents or a trusted adult and let them know how you are feeling.
