Body Mass Index of BMI is an estimate of body fat. An overweight or obese person will have too much body fat. The higher the BMI, the higher the risk for diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease.
To calculate Body Mass Index, use a person's height and weight. Take the person's weight and divide by their height squared.
A BMI that is less than 18.5 falls within the underweight range. If your BMI is 18.5 to 24.9 then this is the normal or healthy weight. If your BMI is 25.0 to 29.9 this indicates overweight range. Anything above 30.0 is considered obese.
